Hi, friend! I’m so glad you’re here. 🙂
No matter the steps you’ve had to take on your journey, you have a place here. Welcome to The Indwelled Inkings!
I’m Christine, the girl whose fingers are pecking away at the worn, dimly lit lettered-keys behind the screen.
Why I’m here:
In the past, on the eve of the new year, I make half-hearted goals for myself that I’d “like” to accomplish. This year, I’m choosing not to create a list of goals, but of yearly intentions. On the top of my list? Launch this blog space.
I have felt the pull to start a blog for several years now. Several English professors throughout the years have suggested that I would be more suited as a journalist than a teacher, but I’ve consistently choked down this jagged boulder of self-doubt and allowed it to build sturdy bricked, steel-fortified walls around any gumption that I had to get this started. Whether it be the trying year that 2020 has been, growth in my walk with Christ, or a compilation of these and several other things, the mortar of those walls is cracking beneath the weight of what “could be”. While the light is beginning to peer in like morning’s first light, why would I not make my great escape?
Though I’ve never been one to enjoy lengthy term papers laden with research drenched in dread, I do enjoy writing as an expression of thought. Having this outlet simultaneously allows for creative freedom and for growth as a literary composer.
Why “The Indwelled Inkings”?
You may be wondering the meaning behind the title! Always one for alliteration, I decided on “The Indwelled Inkings”. Indwelled in this sense means that I’ve been indwelled with the Holy Spirit; that He is dwelling within me. I know that not all readers will share my same beliefs, but I am hoping to share content that is beneficial and able to be utilized by all – the Bible-believing Christian and those that differ in belief.
Inkings is a nod to the days gone by where all writers had to turn to was paper and a pen. This analog approach is still my favorite way to write, plan, draft, etc., though preserving my curated thoughts is best suited for digitized parchment and a non-smearable ink in today’s technologically-laden society.
While I intend to use this blog to create and share content helpful for living a gospel-centered life, I am in no way claiming to have it all together. As a writer, I will be the first to say I am mediocre at best.
Self-doubt and a fear of not living up to my idea of perfection may have prevented me from beginning before now, but tonight, I am plowing through the figments of cautionary signs that are littered in my mind. Throughout this journey, I’m sure I’ll crash, burn, and bandage my road-rashed laden knees once or twice, but here’s to the beauty in the suffering.
Welcome. 🙂
